Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position - Columbus, Ohio

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Required Exams and Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
  • Unit-Specific Competency Exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 1 year of start and annually thereafter; minimum passing score 76%; remediation process in place)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN)
  • Transcript or diploma verification (including foreign education)
  • Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending
  • Background acknowledgement form for subcontractors

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
  • TB questionnaire in lieu of annual TB test renewal
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low titer
  • Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series (declination accepted)
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemption requires documentation
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); decliners must wear a mask
  • COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended (not required)

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
  • Employment application including education verification
  • Skills checklist completion
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
  • Annual fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate
  • Annual ethics and compliance policy review and acknowledgement
  • State license verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification for licensure
  • Facility-specific dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment

This position requires compliance with Ohio-specific fingerprinting and background check protocols, as well as adherence to strict health and immunization standards. Candidates should be prepared for competency exams and ongoing certification renewals as outlined.
