Location: Portland, Oregon

Job Details
- Position: Echo Tech
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years; 1st time travelers are welcome
- Floating: Position floats between units
- On-Call: Yes, rotational with other staff
- One weekday every two weeks
- One weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) every 4-6 weekends
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, call coverage or Sunday shift depending on call rotation
- Block Schedules: Yes
- Patient Ratios: 1:1

- Scrub Color: Any color allowed except:
- OR/L&D: Scrubs provided
- Micro Bio Tech: Business appropriate street clothes (lab coat provided)
- MLT: Any color scrubs or business casual
- Parking: No fee
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) – Verify if required
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Verify if required (AWHONN or NCC-EFM accepted)
- Tech Cert Verification - National – As applicable
- State License – Copy of professional license required
- State License Verification – As applicable
- NURSYS Verification – Required for RNs
- IV Certification (LVN/LPN/Other) – Verify if required
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) – Verify if required
- NIH Stroke Certification – Required every 2 years if applicable
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Verify if required
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education Verification required for all candidates
- State-specific searches for Oregon and Washington as applicable
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years (6 months for CNAs)
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit Mask testing required for travel candidates (updated annually)
- Immunizations and Vaccinations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB or Chest X-Ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Hepatitis B – Vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Flu Vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID-19 Vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
- Respiratory Safety Clearance for respirator use (annual clearance required)
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Color Blind Testing if required by unit (minimum 80% score)
- Competency Exams as applicable by specialty
- Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment or EFM certification for L&D RNs
Facility Specific Requirements
- Floating Policy Acknowledgement: May be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- Badge Photo: Passport style with neutral background required
- Completion of Providence WorkRamp LMS modules prior to start, including:
- Core Modules by profession and region
- Specialty Specific Modules for ER, L&D, Leadership roles
- Annual Regulatory Modules
- Epic Training Modules: Required and must be completed within a week of orientation
Additional Notes
- 48-hour shifts are not approved
- Per diem candidates have some differing requirements, especially around background checks and fit testing
- Some certifications and requirements may be waived or deferred for non-clinical or remote candidates
- Candidates with international education may have additional verification steps
This position offers a structured schedule with floating responsibilities and requires compliance with Providence Health and Services policies and state-specific regulations. Candidates should be prepared for rotational on-call duties and weekend shifts.
