Travel RN MedSurg - Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - MedSurg
• Employment Type: Travel
• Location: Portsmouth, NH
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in a hospital setting
• Licensure: Must have an active compact RN license at submission
• Certifications Required: BLS and IV certification

Unit Information

• Unit: 3rd Medical (Shoals Building)
• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:6, occasionally 1:7 during surge
• Staffing: Unit Secretary (day shift only), LNA’s available for both shifts
• Equipment: Telemetry
• Documentation System: Meditech Expanse
• Scheduling: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; every other weekend and rotating holidays
• Floating Policy: Float to same level of care

Patient Care & Procedures

• Patient Experience Requirements: Bedside shift report, hourly safety rounding, personal connections
• Advanced Skills Needed: IV certification
• Procedures Performed on Unit:

  • Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
  • Wound care
  • Drain management (chest tubes, Jackson Pratt, etc.)
  • Foley catheter insertion
  • Central line dressing changes
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • EKGs as needed

Dress Code

• Scrubs (any color)
