Travel RN - PACU (Denver, Colorado)
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Pre-op
- Employment Type: Travel
- Location: Denver, Colorado
- Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (staggered shifts; pre-op starts at 5:30 AM, last staff arrives at 2:00 PM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Units: Pre-op and PACU combined
- Beds: 10 beds in pre-op, 10 beds in PACU
- Staffing: 17 staff members covering both departments
- Patient Ratios: 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Call: Night shifts are call only; call is required. One nurse covers call-only position Monday-Thursday nights to reduce call burden.
- Equipment: Phillips monitors
- EMR System: Meditech
Required Qualifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Meditech EMR
Typical Procedures
- Large variety of surgical cases, including a high volume of complex surgeries
- ICU cases are transferred directly to ICU unless full
Work Environment & Culture
- Nurses float between both pre-op and PACU units
- Flexible and adaptable personality preferred
- Collaborative, high-functioning nursing team
- Positive work environment with a focus on teamwork and having fun at work
- Several nurses currently on medical leave as the unit prepares for a busy season
Additional Notes
- Staff are expected to float between units and take call shifts
- The unit values flexibility and teamwork due to the dynamic nature of the workload and patient care needs
