Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER RN) - South Carolina

Location

Position Details

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift Options:
    • 4 shifts of 12 hours (4x12s) or
    • 3 shifts of 12 hours (3x12s), Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
  • Patient Ratios: Based on acuity
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call Requirement: No
  • Floating: Yes, may need to float within scope to like units or sister facilities

Experience & Licensing Requirements

  • Minimum Experience: 2 years
  • First-time travelers accepted: Yes
  • License: South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be in hand prior to start
  • Certifications Required:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Certifications Preferred:
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) — Note: TNCC is not required for ER RNs
  • Special Requirements: Charge Nurse experience preferred

  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Licensure & Background

  • SC RN license or Compact license required with primary source verification
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • County and state checks (including SC statewide)
    • Sex Offender Registry
    • National Criminal
    • FACIS 3
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers search required for sub vendors

Certifications

  • ACLS: AHA only, RQI acceptable; must not expire within 30 days of start
  • BLS: AHA only; required for all clinical staff; must not expire within 30 days of start
  • PALS: AHA only; required for ER; must not expire within 30 days of start
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required for ER and Med Surg; must be updated annually
  • TNCC: Not required for ER RNs
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): AHA/AAP only; must not expire within 30 days of start
  • Other certifications as applicable per unit/job description

Health & Immunization

  • Physical Exam: Initial physical within 1 year of start attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
  • Negative TB Test or Chest X-Ray: Q-Gold/T-Spot or 2-step PPD within 90 days of start; follow-up for positives required
  • Annual TB Questionnaire required
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required; boosters or declination allowed for low/non-reactive titers
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests allowed
  • Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations; documentation must be uploaded by December 5th deadline
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) prior to start; failure to complete results in being sent home
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into facility system
  • Passport-style photo for badge required
  • Signed agreements and acknowledgments including:

    • Employee Confidentiality Agreement
    • HR Policy Manual review

  • Radiation Badge: Required only for OR RNs and CSTs (not required for ER RN)
