Description

Job Opportunity: OB/L&D Nurse

Location: Bemidji, Minnesota
Facility: Sanford Bemidji Medical Center (Sanford Health)
Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide care for postpartum, stable antepartum, pediatric patients, newborns, GYN, Med-Surg overflow
  • May serve as 2nd RN in Special Care Nursery (SCN)
  • Float to Med-Surg and Tele units as needed (infrequent)

Patient Census & Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

  • Average daily census:
    • 5 mom/baby couplets
    • 2 pediatrics
    • 1 GYN
    • 2 labor
    • 4 SCN
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios:
    • 1:3 mom/baby couplets
    • 1:5 GYN/Med-Surg patients
    • 1:3-4 pediatrics

Support Staff

  • Ward clerk (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
  • CNA (Tuesday – Thursday)
  • Charge Nurse/Circulator (no patient assignments)
  • Resource Nurse (no patient assignments)
  • LPN Scrub Nurse (no patient assignments)

Equipment Used

  • EPIC One Chart (EMR)
  • Acudose
  • Philips Vitals Machines
  • Bladder Scanner
  • Medula Breast Pumps
  • Responder 5 Call Light System
  • Medfusion Pumps

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years OB/Peds nursing experience
  • Ability to work in Labor, Postpartum, Nursery, and Pediatrics units
  • Willingness to float to other units (Tele, Med-Surg) as needed

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active Minnesota RN license
  • Active BLS (AHA)
  • Active NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Active ACLS (AHA)
  • PALS preferred but not required

Shift & Schedule

  • Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day/Night)
  • Approximately 50% day shifts and 50% night shifts over a 6-week schedule
  • Shift swaps generally not more frequent than once per week
  • May assist in filling schedule vacancies due to onboarding, FMLA, or staffing needs

Orientation & Training

  • Equipment and unit orientation provided on first day

Dress Code

  • Navy scrubs

This position is ideal for experienced OB/L&D nurses comfortable with a variety of patient populations and flexible with floating to other units as needed.
