Description

Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Night Shift

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:4
  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in MS/Tele nursing
  • Certifications Required: BLS and IV certification
  • Skills:

  • Electronic Medical Record: EPIC experience required

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA certified (Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for certain units; check unit-specific requirements
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for ER, ER OB, and ER Psych units
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for L&D, Post-Partum, and OB units
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Certification required; no 2-year expiration policy
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required for most ICU, PCU, ED, and Brain & Spine units; 2-year expiration
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for all RN/LVN candidates prior to start
  • Unit-Specific Competency Exam: Required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)

Licensure & Verification

  • State License Verification: Required within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for RNs, LPN/LVNs, and APs
  • Education Accreditation Confirmation: Must be graduate of an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN)
  • Transcript/Diploma: Required, including graduation date; GED or HS equivalency acceptable for RRTs

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-Year Criminal Background Check: Must be completed within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting results
  • Fingerprinting: Ohio BCI & FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start using code 3701.881
  • Pending Background Check Attestation: Required if fingerprint results are pending at start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG Checks: Required monthly monitoring
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training Certificate: Required prior to start and updated annually
  • Background Acknowledgement Form: Required for subcontractors prior to start

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Physician documentation within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Adult dose required (after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB Test or Chest X-Ray: Within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire required annually in lieu of test
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer required
  • Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series; declination acceptable
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required unless medically exempt
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start; new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen
  • Flu Vaccination/Documentation: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) or mask-wearing if declined
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but strongly recommended; proof of primary vaccination collected if available

Additional Requirements

  • References: 2 professional references required; at least one from a manager or formal leadership
  • Employment Application: Required for all candidates, including education details for nursing candidates
  • Skills Checklist: Required
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required annually
  • Dress Code and Hand Hygiene Policy: Must be reviewed and signed for contracts starting 5/19/25 and beyond
  • Ethics and Compliance Policies: Must be reviewed and signed annually for new contracts starting 11/7/24 and beyond

This position requires adherence to strict credentialing, background, and health compliance standards to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.
