Description
Respiratory Therapist - Contract Position
Location
- Milwaukee, WI
Facility Overview
- Level III Trauma Center
- Level III NICU
- Magnet Designation
- Comprehensive Stroke Center
- 933 beds
- COVID vaccine required
Experience & Patient Population
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- Patient types: Mostly geriatrics and adults, some pediatrics in the ED
- Patient ratio: 1:1
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- CRT or RRT
Skills Required
- Ventilator management (including AVEA, Servo U, LPU 1200, parapack vents for MRI, Hamilton vents for transport)
- CPAP, BiPAP
- Nebulizers
- A-line placement
- Intubation
- Vent weaning and extubation
- Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
Technology & Equipment
- Charting system: EPIC
- Medication dispensing: Pyxis
- Various ventilators as listed above
Work Environment & Scheduling
- Floating: May float to all units within the hospital
- Orientation: At least one shift to learn unit flow
- Weekend rotation: Every other weekend (default)
- Time off: Up to 7 days (default)
- On call: Varies
- Holiday expectations: Varies
- Fatigue policy: Maximum 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
Dress Code
- Scrub color: Any except camo or denim
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
