Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Tech (CST)

Location: Midland, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

As a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room, you will:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and problem-solve during surgeries.
  • Ensure all supplies and equipment are available, assembled correctly, and in working condition.
  • Confirm and assemble sterile instruments properly.
  • Anticipate surgeon needs and assist in maintaining an accurate count of medications, sharps, instruments, and sponges.
  • Maintain and monitor the sterile field, recognizing any breaks in technique.
  • Set up the sterile field in a timely manner according to policy.

Requirements

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience required.
    • Open Heart surgery experience required.
    • Experience in tertiary care centers and/or designated Level I or II trauma centers required.
    • Travel experience highly preferred.
  • Certifications:

    • BLS (AHA) required.
    • NBSTSA certification required.
  • Additional:

    • Current skills checklist (within 1 year) relevant to the specialty.
    • Two supervisory reference forms from the last two years.
    • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (local candidates will not be considered).

  • 324-bed medical center located on a 225-acre wooded campus.
  • Offers a broad range of primary and specialty care services, including 24-hour emergency care and Level II trauma care.
  • Dress code: Hospital-provided scrubs.
  • Electronic Medical Record system: Epic.

This position is ideal for experienced surgical technologists seeking a temporary role in a high-acuity, trauma-designated facility with a focus on open heart surgery.
