Unit Information

• Unit: 6th Floor, Post-Op Med/Surg
• Number of Beds: 34
• Patient Ratios: 6:1
• Staffing: Tech support available on day and night shifts; Unit secretary on site 7am-7pm
• Equipment: IV Pumps, Telemetry, SCDs, Continuous Pulse Oximetry, Feeding Pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanner, iMobile communication technology
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week; 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
• Floating Policy: Contract labor floats first; rotation used when multiple contract staff are scheduled
• Patient Experience: Emphasis on attentive, compassionate care; bedside shift report; building personal connections with patients and families; involving family in care plans

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS certification
• Med/Surg experience required
• Skills: Prioritizing care, multitasking, IV starts, basic wound care, maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes

Additional Details

• Dress Code: Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)
• Contract length: 13 weeks
