Description

Registered Nurse (Cath Lab) - Travel/Contract

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab)
  • Schedule: 4x10 hour shifts (40 hours weekly)
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years required
  • Accepts: First-timers with Cath Lab, Interventional Vascular Lab, or Interventional Radiology experience
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • DC Nursing License

Preferred:

  • BSN

Skills & Responsibilities

  • Diagnostic and interventional Cardiac Cath Lab procedures
  • Assist with Central Line insertion and management
  • Starting IVs
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Isolation precautions
  • Monitoring procedural sedation
  • Ventilator monitoring
  • Pulmonary Artery (PA) line management

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • I9 and E-Verify attestation required upon hire
  • Valid driver's license if driving is essential to the job
  • Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state searches
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification for highest degree required
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations and health documentation including:
    • Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation or titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask use

Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (pass with 80% or higher) within 3 years
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with specific scoring requirements, updated annually
  • Color blindness testing (online or in-person)
  • Other unit-specific competencies as applicable

Additional Requirements

  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
  • Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually
  • Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed before start date

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity cardiac cath lab environment with a supportive teaching hospital setting. Candidates must meet strict certification, competency, and health requirements to ensure patient safety and quality care.
