Description
Job Opportunity: RN - ER/MedSurg Float Nurse
Location: Webster, South Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Float RN position covering Emergency Room (ER), Medical-Surgical (MedSurg), and Outpatient units
- Work alongside another RN with typical RN duties including IV starts, Foley catheter care, and patient monitoring
- Facility has 10 patient rooms, averaging about 4 patients per day
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically ranges from 1:2 to 1:3, with a maximum of 1:6
- Staffing includes 2 RNs minimum per shift, plus a PCT or LPN as a third team member
- Shifts are 12 hours, nights, every other weekend
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience in ER and 2 years in MedSurg
- Active Compact or South Dakota State RN license
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- Critical Access Hospital experience preferred but not required
- EPIC experience preferred
- Ability to float between units daily
- Must be able to badge in and out at the facility
- Navy scrubs dress code
Orientation & Training
- Up to one week of tailored orientation
- Orientation includes at least one day shift and one night shift to understand unit operations
Additional Information
- Preference for candidates who hold all required certifications and can serve as ER charge nurse; flexibility available if not possible
- Only 2 RNs on staff at a time, so all nurses must be able to work in the ER
- Candidates must disclose if they have previously worked for the facility, with a minimum 6-month gap since last employment
- Candidates should confirm housing availability at time of submission
Equipment Used
- EPIC electronic health record system
- Philips central monitor/telemetry
- Lifepak 15 cardiac monitor/defibrillator
- No medication dispensing system in use
This role is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with fast-paced, multi-department float assignments in a small hospital setting.
