Description

Occupational Therapist - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Walla Walla, Washington
Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Position floats between units
  • No on-call required
  • No weekend or block schedules required
  • Expected patient load: 9-11 patients per day
  • Acute care experience required
  • Inpatient rehab experience preferred but not required
  • Must be a self-starter, able to keep schedule full and work well with the team
  • Strong communication skills necessary

  • Type: Short Term Acute Care / Level III Trauma Center
  • Total staffed beds: 104
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrub color: Any color allowed on all units
  • Parking: No fee

Required Credentials & Compliance

  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
  • Education verification required for all candidates
  • State-specific searches and registry checks as applicable (e.g., WA State Patrol Search, OBRA Registry for CNAs)
  • Professional licenses and certifications must be current and verified
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years (6 months for CNAs)
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years required

Certifications (as applicable)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Pediatric Society
  • Other certifications as required by specialty or unit (e.g., Chemotherapy, Electronic Fetal Monitoring)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Fit mask testing (N95 or equivalent) required for travel candidates, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
    • COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)

Competency & Training Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Competency exams required by profession/specialty
  • Color blindness testing if required by unit
  • Facility-specific training modules via WorkRamp LMS platform (pre-start and annual regulatory modules)
  • Epic training modules completion required prior to or shortly after start

Additional Notes

  • Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
  • Physical and health document expiration dates are strictly enforced
  • Candidates must maintain compliance with all Providence Health and Services policies and procedures

This position is ideal for Occupational Therapists with acute care experience looking for a travel contract opportunity in a Level III Trauma Center setting with a supportive team environment.
