Orthopedic RN Opportunity - Peoria, Illinois

Facility & Unit Overview

• Department: Orthopedic
• Unit Beds: 43 (all private rooms)
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Day (12 hr): 1:4-5
  • Night (12 hr): 1:5-6
• Charge Nurse: Primary charge RN on each shift
• House Supervisor: Available 24/7
• Patient Care Techs (PCTs): Ratio 1:7-8
• Common Patient Types: Medical surgical, postoperative orthopedic cases, trauma with fractures

Job Details

• Contract Length: 18 weeks
• Shifts: 12-hour shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (day shift on Sat/Sun, night shift on Fri/Sat)
• Call/Standby: None
• Floating: Travel RNs float first if needed, occasionally to similar MedSurg floors
• Orientation: Two unit/department-specific orientation sessions
• Dress Code: Any color scrubs allowed; professional appearance required; tattoos and piercings must be covered

Required Certifications & Experience

• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Preferred clinical experience: 1-2 years in postop surgical care and general med-surg care

Equipment & Technology

• Respiratory Therapy Equipment: CPAP, heated high flow (RNs troubleshoot as needed)
• Telemetry: House-wide telemetry pack monitors (Phillips brand); RNs do not read their own strips

Additional Notes

• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours (guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation)
• Drug-Free Campus: Negative drug screen required for all panels
• OSF Call Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours off every 13 weeks with no penalty or payback required
