Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Amarillo, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year nursing experience
- Previous Operating Room (OR) experience required
- Accepts first-time travelers
- Rotating call days required
- Must be fluent in English
- Must demonstrate good interpersonal, customer service, organizational, and follow-through skills
- Must align with the facility culture, mission, and values
Skills & Equipment
- Skills: Circulate, scrub
- Equipment: Pyxis, EPIC
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Case Types: General, Orthopedic, Urology, Endo/Laparoscopic, Neuro, Ophthalmology, Plastics, Podiatry, Transplant, Gynecology
- Preferred Experience: Vascular, Thoracic, Bariatrics, ENT
- Scrubs provided
- 50-mile travel radius
Required Certifications (as applicable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- State License verification and NURSYS verification required
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- Education verification required (transcript/diploma accepted temporarily if needed)
- Fingerprinting required for New Mexico placements (not applicable here)
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; additional onsite drug screen during orientation (only one attempt allowed)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire for positive TB results, renewed annually
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (no declinations accepted)
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (80% passing or Angoff score)
- Color blind testing (online acceptable)
- Competency exams as applicable (minimum 80% passing or Angoff score)
- Annual core testing for subcontractors
Documentation & Other Requirements
- Clear headshot photo for badge
- Complete employment application/resume
- Unit-specific skills checklist annually
- 7-year work history verification
- References: Internal only; not required for clearance
