Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Columbus, Ohio

Position Details

  • Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts, weekends required
  • Floating: May be required to float to the main campus

  • Equipment: GE Ventilators

Required Certifications & Qualifications

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED acceptable)
  • Previous travel experience preferred

Required Certifications (may vary by unit)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for ER, ER OB, and ER Psych units
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – Required for L&D, Post-Partum, and OB units
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Facility-specific expiration rules apply
  • State License Verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification for RNs, LPN/LVNs, APs
  • NIH Stroke Certification – Required for most ICU, PCU, ED, and Brain & Spine units (check unit-specific requirements)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement – Required annually

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Aya candidates only)
  • Unit-Specific Competency Exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam for all RNs within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation confirmation required immediately after contract signing
  • Transcript/Diploma verification required (High School transcript/diploma for RRTs)
  • Subcontractors must complete additional background acknowledgements and fingerprint proof

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
  • TB Questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test renewal
  • MMR Vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended; proof of primary vaccination collected if available

Additional Requirements

  • 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
  • Employment application required (nursing candidates must include education)
  • Skills checklist required
  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy must be reviewed and signed
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually

This position requires adherence to strict credentialing, background checks, health documentation, and competency exams to ensure compliance with facility and state regulations. Candidates should be prepared for night shifts, weekend work, and possible floating duties.
