Travel RN Opportunity – Plano, Texas

Unit Information

Specialty: Ortho Trauma Specialty Medsurge
Location: Plano, TX
Unit: Floor A4, A Tower
Number of Beds: 36
Staffing (Day Shift): 1 charge nurse, 8 RNs, 3 CNAs
Staffing (Night Shift): 1 charge nurse, 8 RNs, 3 CNAs
Patient Ratios: 1:5 (flex to 1:6)
Equipment: Telemetry
EMR System: Meditech

Job Details

Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Weekend Commitment: 4 weekends
Shift Start Times: Be on unit by 0645/1845 for huddle; tardiness follows hospital policy (0653/1853)
Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
Floating Areas: All MedSurg units

Required Skills and Experience

Minimum 1 year MedSurg experience
Certifications: ACLS, BLS (BLS required)
Registered Nurse License required

Preferred Skills

Experience with Ortho and/or Trauma patients

Typical Patient Population and Procedures

Polytrauma patients
Non-surgical cervical fractures cleared by spine, ortho, trauma teams
Patients with downgraded traumatic brain injury (TBI)
Patients with no more than 3 drains
Burn downgrades
Management of Heparin and Protonix drips
