Travel RN Opportunity – Plano, Texas

Unit Information

  • Specialty: Ortho Trauma Specialty Medsurge
  • Location: Plano, TX
  • Unit: Floor A4, A Tower
  • Number of Beds: 36
  • Staffing (Day Shift): 1 charge nurse, 8 RNs, 3 CNAs
  • Staffing (Night Shift): 1 charge nurse, 8 RNs, 3 CNAs
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5 (flex to 1:6)
  • Equipment: Telemetry
  • EMR System: Meditech

Job Details

  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Weekend Commitment: 4 weekends
  • Shift Start Times: Be on unit by 0645/1845 for huddle; tardiness follows hospital policy (0653/1853)
  • Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
  • Floating Areas: All MedSurg units

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 1 year MedSurg experience
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS (BLS required)
  • Registered Nurse License required

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Ortho and/or Trauma patients

Typical Patient Population and Procedures

  • Polytrauma patients
  • Non-surgical cervical fractures cleared by spine, ortho, trauma teams
  • Patients with downgraded traumatic brain injury (TBI)
  • Patients with no more than 3 drains
  • Burn downgrades
  • Management of Heparin and Protonix drips
