Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Portland, Oregon

Job Details
- Position: Cath Lab Tech (non-scrub)
- Experience: Required in Radiology Tech and Cath Lab, preferably with Neuro, IR, and Cardiac procedures
- Floating: No floating between units
- On-call: Yes, weekdays and weekends
- Weekends: Not required
- Block schedules: Not required
- Expected patient ratio: 4:1
- Charting system: Epic
- Facility type: Short Term Acute Care
- Total staffed beds: 536
- Teaching hospital
- Scrub color: Any color allowed; OR/Cath Lab scrubs provided

Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI; or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI; or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- PALS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI; or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
- State License (copy required)
- NURSYS Verification (for RNs)
- IV Certification (LVN/LPN/Other, if applicable)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (every 2 years, if applicable)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification (if applicable)
- Tech Certification Verification (for Allied Professionals)
Required Background Checks & Verifications
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start; updated monthly
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start; updated monthly
- Education Verification (3rd party) for all candidates
- State-specific searches (Oregon Abuse/Neglect, Washington WSP/WATCH, OBRA Registry for CNAs in WA)
- Social Security Card (required for WA State OBRA search for CNAs)
- Drivers License/State ID (government-issued photo ID)
- I9 Attestation
- E-Verify Attestation
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit Mask test (travel only, required for new starts on or after 2/5/2024), updated annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer, or declination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (special rules for Alaska placements)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer, or declination
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests accepted)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 Vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
- Respirator Safety Clearance (RespSafety) for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024, medically cleared annually
Competency & Skills Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Color Blind Testing (if required by unit)
- Competency Exams as applicable by specialty
- Medication Aide exam for CNAs with LTC specialty at specific Oregon Assisted Living facilities
- Skills Checklist updated annually (clinical specialties)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background)
- Completion of Providence Health and Services WorkRamp modules (Core, Specialty, Regional, and Annual Regulatory Requirements) prior to start
- Epic training modules (required for candidates in IRC/Oregon/Spokane, WA)
- Floating Policy Acknowledgement (may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance)
Employment History & References
- Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting (6 months for CNAs)
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors) with month/year format for dates
- Explanation for any gaps or overlaps in employment required
Additional Notes
- 48-hour shifts are not approved
- Subcontractors have specific additional requirements for background checks and documentation
- Non-clinical and remote candidates have some exemptions for certifications and health requirements
- Returning candidates with less than 30-day gap may have some background and drug screen waivers
This position is ideal for Radiology or Cardiology techs with cath lab experience looking for a travel contract in a large, teaching hospital setting using Epic. The role requires on-call availability but no weekend or block scheduling. Compliance with extensive background, health, and competency requirements is mandatory.
