Description

Registered Nurse (Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Telemetry Registered Nurse role
  • Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
    • Minimum overall score of 80%
    • 100% score on lethal rhythms section
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Skills required:
    • Telemetry
    • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Weekend coverage: Every other weekend (6 weekend shifts in 6 weeks per contract)
  • Must be willing to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
  • Scrubs not provided (Caribbean Blue color required)
  • Flu vaccine required for all employees

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
  • NIH Stroke Certification (based on unit)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias Dysrhythmia: Basics A exam) with annual updates
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80% or higher within 3 years)
  • Color Blind Testing (online or in-person)
  • Competency Exam (score 80% or higher within 3 years)
  • State Nursing License verification prior to start

Experience & References

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Work history verification for the past 7 years, including education, employment, licenses, and contact information

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within the last year, with annual updates if applicable
  • Tdap vaccine within the last 10 years preferred
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar)
  • COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask-wearing for patient encounters
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete on-site if needed)

Background Checks & Documentation

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position
  • I9 and E-Verify attestation required upon hire
  • Valid driver's license required if driving is an essential job function

Additional Information

  • Required to complete facility-specific modules (SITELS) prior to start date
  • Photo for badge must meet facility specifications (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
  • Must comply with facility policies on floating and weekend coverage
