Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Facility: Medical-Surgical Telemetry Unit (primarily MS patients)


Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7 PM - 7 AM), every other week (EOW)
  • Holidays: As needed
  • Float: Required; travelers may float across all facilities in the health system
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years required; first-time travelers are welcome
  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS Tele) due to EKG requirement, but patient population is primarily MS
  • Patient Population:
    • Observation patients
    • Respiratory conditions
    • General Medical Surgical diagnoses
    • Palliative, End of Life, Hospice patients
    • Psychiatric Observation
    • Diabetes (including new diabetics and those with complications)
    • Surgical patients and surgical observation
  • Electronic Health Record: EPIC
  • Preferred: Previous Charge RN experience

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Certifications & Requirements

  • Mandatory Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC
    • Pass/Fail EKG exam during onboarding (required for all RNs)
  • Additional Certifications (may be required depending on unit):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - may be preferred
    • NIH Stroke Certification - required for Cardiac Progressive Care, MS/Tele units
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - may be preferred
  • Pass/Fail Testing:
    • EKG/Dysrhythmia exam required for all RNs except Behavioral Health and Case Managers
    • EPIC test required for RNs and allied candidates (2 attempts allowed)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Check:
    • Must be within 60 days of start date
    • Covers all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
    • Includes aliases, social security trace, statewide and national criminal searches, federal court, sex offender, FACIS Level 3, education verification
    • No open hits allowed; all cases must be cleared before start
  • Education Verification:
    • Associate's degree in nursing or higher required
    • Foreign equivalency evaluation required if education obtained outside the U.S.
  • Licensure:
    • North Carolina RN license with primary source verification within 30 days of start
    • NURSYS verification within 60 days of start
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam (if applicable)
    • Fit mask test (annual, specific approved N95 respirators)
    • Immunizations: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption (required by 10/20)
    • COVID-19 vaccination or declination accepted
  • Photo for Badge:
    • Strict photo requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual/uniform attire)
  • References:
    • 2 supervisory references required from clinical positions (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
  • Employment History:
    • 7 years work history required, with verification of last 5 years
  • Skills Checklist:
    • Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences.
  • Floating across facilities is mandatory for all travelers.
  • Candidates must complete all compliance requirements by 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date.
  • First-time travelers are welcome.
