Job Opportunity: Adult Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Johns Island, South Carolina
Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Facility Type: Freestanding Emergency Room
Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), every other weekend required, holidays as needed
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position in a high acuity environment requiring ability to work in Adult ICU, Stepdown, and Floorcare units.
- Possible floating to like units.
- No on-call required.
- Experience with EPIC and Cerner preferred.
- Facility uses EPIC for charting.
- Parking is free.
- Scrub color: Caribbean blue.
Requirements
Experience & Certifications
- Minimum 1 year of adult critical care experience required.
- Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- Required certifications/licenses: BLS, RRT.
- Accepted certifications/licenses: NBRC and South Carolina Respiratory Care Provider (SC RCP).
- First-time travelers are not accepted.
- Radiation badge not required.
- SC RRT license must be active at time of assignment start.
- EPIC and Cerner experience preferred.
Scheduling & Work Conditions
- Every other weekend required.
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
- Radius rule: 60 miles; locals accepted on a case-by-case basis.
- Open to block scheduling with prior approval (not guaranteed).
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
- Must include SSN trace, statewide, national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals.
Licensure & Certifications Verification
- Primary source verification of SC state license required.
- NURSYS verification required if applicable.
- Certifications must be current and not expiring within 30 days of start.
- ACLS, BLS, and other certifications as required by unit/job description.
- Must provide copies of all certifications.
Health & Safety Documents
- Physical exam updated annually.
- Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
- Tdap vaccination within 10 years or declination form.
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest X-ray if prior positive.
- Annual TB questionnaire.
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella.
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccination series, or declination.
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated.
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours).
- Upload COVID and flu vaccination documentation into facility system.
- Passport-style photo for badge.
- Proof of 2 clinical references.
- Employment application/resume.
- Skills checklist updated annually.
- Work history verification for last 3 clinical employers.
Additional Notes
- Travelers must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and compliance requirements.
- Failure to complete required modules or provide documentation may result in delayed start or removal from assignment.
- Facility may require participation in emergency response during hurricane season (June-November).
This position is ideal for experienced adult RRTs with critical care background seeking a travel contract in a high acuity emergency room setting.
