Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: Up to 26 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM (Monday-Friday) with 1 rotating day off
- Weekend Requirement: Possible weekend coverage
- On Call: Required; one primary call per week and one primary call weekend per month with a 30-minute callback time
- Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work or take call one holiday per 13-week contract (rotated with staff)
- Call Off Policy: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Locals Accepted: No (radius rule applies)
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience in neuro and peripheral interventions
- Epic electronic health record experience required
Certifications & Licenses
- ARRT (R) certification required — Cardiovascular (CV) or Vascular Interventional (VI) preferred (VI preferred)
- BLS (AHA) required
- Virginia state license preferred; any active state license accepted (pending licenses accepted with emergency authorization)
Patient Population & Unit
- Work within inpatient/outpatient Interventional Radiology department
- Department includes:
- 4 angiography suites (2 single-plane, 2 biplane)
- 1 dedicated CT scanner
- 1 multipurpose fluoroscopy suite for pain management
- Advanced imaging technologies
- Focus on minimally invasive procedures for vascular, neuro, and oncologic conditions

- Private, not-for-profit acute care teaching hospital
- 703 licensed beds
- Region’s largest hospital and Level I Trauma Center for adult and pediatric patients
- Comprehensive Interventional Radiology department with advanced imaging and minimally invasive procedures
Required Documentation & Compliance
- I9 or attestation required
- Driver’s License/State ID required within 48 hours of signing (must meet radius rule)
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Background check: 7-year history within 1 year of start, including education verification
- Various certifications depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC) as applicable
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, free from communicable diseases
- Fit testing within 1 year, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations or titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or mask/declination form during flu season
- 2 clinical references required
- Complete employment application/resume required
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Radiation badge must be supplied by the client (not provided by agency)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must review and acknowledge facility-specific orientation and compliance documents prior to start
- Emergency authorization available for travelers with pending Virginia licenses
- Facility requires strict adherence to radius rule for local candidates
