Histologist Position - Boston, Massachusetts

Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Perform routine histology tasks including:

  • Tissue processing
  • Embedding
  • Microtomy (2, 3, 4, 5 microns)
  • H&E staining
  • Coverslipping
  • Labeling and delivery of routine surgical and autopsy specimens
• Possible weekend shifts

Required Credentials & Compliance

Licensure & Certifications

• Professional license/certification primary source verification required within 30 days of start date; must be maintained and updated upon expiration.
• MA Conditional Licenses are not accepted.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• MMR: Documentation of two measles, two mumps, and one rubella vaccine OR two MMR vaccines, or proof of immunity via blood test.
• Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30). No exemptions allowed.
• TB Test: Documentation of TB skin test or negative QuantiFERON/T-spot blood test within 3 months of start date; must be updated if there is a break >6 months.
• Health Statement: Physician-signed statement within 365 days of start date; updated if >6 month break.
• Hepatitis B: Strongly preferred but optional. Record of 3 vaccines or proof of immunity or declination.
• Tdap: Preferred, vaccine within last 10 years.
• Positive PPD: If positive TB test, chest x-ray showing no active TB required.
• Respirator Medical Clearance (RMC) Attestation: Required if respirator fit testing is needed.

Background & Screening Checks

• Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start; updated if >6 month break.
• Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start; updated if >6 month break.
• Social Security Number trace covering last 7 years.
• National Sex Offender Registry check within 30 days prior to start; updated annually.
• Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start; updated annually.
• Education verification of highest level achieved.

Submission Requirements

• Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state.
• Two recent references (minimum one supervisor or above in skillset).
• Skills checklist.
• Candidate submission coversheet.
• Confirmation of assignment/POI form upon acceptance and for extensions.

Notes

• All documentation must be current and maintained throughout the assignment.
• No religious or medical exemptions for flu vaccine.
• Some weekend work may be required.
