Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Home Health RN)
Location: Merrimack, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Seeking an RN with skilled homecare experience to support the Greater Nashua team. The role involves providing skilled homecare services including wound care, IV management, and ostomy care.
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (some flexibility with self-scheduling)
- Patient Load: 6 patients per day (full productivity expected after first week)
- Orientation: 3-day orientation provided
- Time Off: 1 week pre-approved time off; other requests considered case-by-case
- Weekend Requirement: Occasional weekends as needed
- Shift: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts
- Patient Age Group: Adult and Geriatric
- Cases: Skilled homecare population with varying diagnoses and acuity, including chronic disease management and medication education
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in home health nursing
- Experience with wound care, IV management, and ostomy care preferred
- Skills: Adult Home Health, Oasis documentation system
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- First-time travelers considered if they have relevant homecare experience
Additional Job Details
- No on-call required
- Mileage reimbursement provided (traveler must have own transportation)
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may receive a rate adjustment
- Pending license applications accepted with proof of application upon offer
- Travelers who have previously worked for the associated health system are not eligible
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
Background Checks (must be completed within 30 days of start)
- Social Security Verification
- National Sex Offender Registry Search
- National Criminal Search
- FACIS Level 3
- Education Verification
- Criminal county searches (excluding NH counties)
- NH State Police Search and NH Criminal Background Report
- BEAS (Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services) Background Report for NH placements
- Motor Vehicle Background Check (for those driving to patient homes)
Certifications
- BLS (AHA provider only)
- ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification, and others as applicable/preferred
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (OSHA education)
- State License copy and verification required
Health Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Fit mask test (annual) for specified mask types
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (medical/religious exemptions allowed with documentation)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD or equivalent)
- TB Questionnaire (required for all travelers)
- Immunity or vaccination records for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 10-panel drug screen within 14 days prior to start (with a 7-day grace period)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (with medical/religious exemptions allowed)
Other Requirements
- Two current professional references within the last 3 years (one must be from a supervisor)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Annual internal evaluation for travelers with Aya or agency experience over 1 year
- New Hampshire BEAS State Registry Results required for NH placements
- Respiratory Safety Clearance questionnaire required for all clinical travelers
Notes
- Candidates must complete all required background checks, certifications, and health documents prior to start.
- Some certifications and exams (e.g., Dysrhythmia/EKG competency) may be time-sensitive and require completion within 48 hours of contract signing.
- Religious and medical exemption forms are available for flu and Tdap vaccines and must be approved by HR.
- Candidates unable to complete fit mask testing prior to start may be able to complete it onsite with prior approval.
