Occupational Therapist / Certified Hand Therapist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Troy, Ohio (split 20 hrs Troy / 20 hrs Piqua)

Job Description

• Dynamic leadership role on interdisciplinary patient care teams
• Identify patient care needs, develop plans of care and goals collaboratively with patients
• Provide a wide variety of treatment techniques within scope of practice
• Educate and support patients and families
• Facilitate continuing care planning
• Participate in staff management, cost management, and professional practice activities
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and contribute to department effectiveness

Work Schedule

• Flexible shifts:

  • 4x10-hour days
  • 4x9-hour days plus half-day Friday
  • 5x8-hour days
• Manager is flexible based on traveler needs

Qualifications

Education

• Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent

Licensure/Certification

• Current Occupational Therapy license in Ohio required
• Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification strongly preferred
• CPR certification required at time of hire

Experience

• No prior experience required, but 1-3 years preferred
• Extensive hand therapy experience may substitute for CHT certification if willing to learn

Important Notes

• Premier Health may cancel up to 2 shifts during the 13-week contract due to low census
• Agreement can be canceled with 2 weeks' notice without fee or fine
• Travelers are not eligible for Premier Health employee incentives

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Identification & Verification

• Government-issued photo ID required
• I-9 and E-Verify attestation required
• Proof of name change if applicable
• Residency declaration if using a Compact Nursing license

Background Checks

• 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, national/state checks, sex offender registry
• DMV check if driving is required
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Fingerprinting required only for specific units (not required for this role)

Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM certifications as applicable to role (not specifically required for this OT role)
• State license primary source verification required
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 2 years
• Other competency exams as applicable

Health & Immunizations

• Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness to work
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray; annual TB questionnaire if past positive
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
• Hepatitis B vaccination series, immune titer, or declination
• Drug screening within 12 months, including marijuana panel
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year

• References: 2 within 2 years (1 must be manager/supervisor) or employment verification if references unavailable
