Description

Nursing Contract Opportunity - Hilo, Hawaii

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit and Work Environment

  • Progressive Care Unit (15 beds)
  • 3 Step-down ICU beds
  • 12 telemetry beds
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios:
    • 1:4 in Progressive Care
    • 1:3 in Step-down ICU
  • Scheduled 36 hours per week after orientation
  • No call required
  • Floating required to all acute units including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and ER

Job Requirements

  • Must have an active Hawaii nursing license by the start of assignment (travelers without one must apply immediately upon offer acceptance)
  • At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
  • Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred

Skills and Duties

  • Primary nursing care
  • Telemetry monitoring and strip reading
  • Fingerstick blood sugar testing
  • Use of equipment such as Meditech charting system, Pyxis medication system, BiPAP, and continuous cardiac monitoring

Certifications

  • ACLS preferred
  • Current PALS preferred
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • BLS/BCLS required

Additional Information

  • Must arrive the Thursday before the start date for employee health appointment on Friday
  • Dress code: Scrubs
