Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 1900-0730
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • Float within skillset required
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years required
  • Skills required:
    • Large orthopedic program (total joints)
    • Colorectal surgeries
    • Vascular procedures
    • Bariatric surgery
  • Certification Requirements:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
    • Minimum overall score of 80%
    • 100% score on lethal rhythms section

Required Credentials & Compliance

Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC approved
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) if working in ED or Pediatrics
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as required by unit
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as required by unit
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) for L&D candidates
  • State Nursing License (must be verified prior to start)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
  • Annual Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • National Tech Certification (if applicable)

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score ≥ 80%)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias Dysrhythmia Basics A exam):
    • Completed within 1 year of start
    • Updated annually
    • Overall score ≥ 80%
    • 100% on lethal rhythms section
  • Color Blind Testing (online or in-person)
  • General Competency Exam (score ≥ 80%)

Background Checks & Verifications

  • Criminal Background Check within 90 days of start covering last 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM checks prior to start and monthly thereafter
  • HHS/OIG checks prior to start and monthly thereafter
  • Education Verification (highest degree required by position)
  • Employment Application with 7 years of work history (no gaps)
  • Work History Verification: minimum 2 years experience in past 7 years
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting 2 years experience in last 3 years
  • Skills Checklist updated annually

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Annual Physical Exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • Negative TB test (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually; Chest X-ray if history of positive TB
  • TB Questionnaire if prior positive TB without treatment for latent TB
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (Titer, Series, or Declination)
  • Drug Screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), includes multiple substances; updated annually
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar)

Additional Notes

  • Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a lower rate
  • Facility-specific modules (SITELS) must be completed prior to hire date
  • Valid driver's license required if driving is an essential job function
  • Clear photo required for badge issuance
  • Various attestations and facility-specific documents required upon hire
