Job Opportunity: Cardiac Sonographer

Location: Northampton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment for cardiac scanning
• Perform M-Mode, 2-D, color, Doppler, exercise testing, and TEE scans
• Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in radiology or equivalent certification
• RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) certification required
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross BLS certification required
• Preferred: 1 to 3 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technician

Required Credentials & Certifications for Onboarding

• BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military certification (AHA preferred)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military certification (AHA preferred)
• License/Certificate Verification: Primary source verification of professional license/certification within 30 days of start date; MA Conditional Licenses not accepted
• Fit Test: N95 respirator fit test within 365 days of start date, updated annually
• MGB Dysrhythmia Exam: Minimum 80% passing score
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Documentation of vaccines or proof of immunity via blood test
• Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30); no exemptions allowed
• TB Test: Documentation of TB skin test or negative QuantiFERON/T-spot blood test within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break
• Health Statement: Physician statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date, updated if >6 month break
• Criminal Background Check: Within 45 days prior to start date, including county and international searches if applicable
• Massachusetts CORI Check: Within 30 days prior to start date, updated if >6 month break
• Respirator Medical Clearance (RMC) Attestation: Required if fit test is required
• Confirmation of Assignment/POI Form: Required for all initial assignments and extensions

Required Documents for Submission

• Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city & state
• Two recent references (minimum one supervisor or above in skillset)
• Skills checklist
• Candidate submission coversheet

Optional but Strongly Preferred

• Hepatitis B vaccination record or proof of immunity or declination
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years

Additional Notes

• Positive PPD requires documentation of a negative chest x-ray after positive test
• No religious exemptions for fit testing or influenza vaccine
• Fit testing cannot be done onsite; must be completed prior to start
• Background checks include national sex offender registry and exclusion lists (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid)
