Job Opportunity: Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP)

Location: Buffalo, Missouri
Employment Type: Temporary Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Screen, evaluate, and rehabilitate patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders.
• Develop and implement appropriate plans of care following regulatory and clinical practice standards.
• Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
• Assess patient progress and adjust treatments accordingly; evaluate treatment outcomes and modify services as needed.
• Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress and treatment plans.
• Document all required clinical and regulatory information accurately in electronic records.
• Record treatment minutes per regulatory and clinical requirements.
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings.
• Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as needed.
• Supervise and support Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or Student Speech-Language Pathologists.
• Adhere to ASHA and State practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics.
• Maintain active ASHA certification and Missouri State licensure.

Requirements

• Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year of SLP experience required. New graduates are acceptable if they have completed Level II experience (beyond Level I observation).
• Setting Experience: Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) is required.
• Licensure: Missouri State License required (Compact license allowed).
• Certification: CCC-SLP certification required.
• Preferred: 3 years of experience holding active CCS certification preferred.
• References: One reference accepted at time of submission.

Work Environment & Productivity

• Typical workday includes 30-minute treatment sessions for SLP, with a caseload of approximately 10-14 patients per day depending on evaluations.
• Group therapy is allowed and encouraged to help with productivity.
• Therapists typically have dedicated devices for documentation.
• Productivity expectations: 88-90% for evaluating therapists, 90-93% for assistants.
