Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC)
  • Skills:
    • Experience with large orthopedic program (total joints)
    • Colorectal surgeries
    • Vascular procedures
    • Bariatric surgery
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 1900-0730 (overnight)
  • Schedule: Every other weekend coverage required
  • Additional Duties: Float within skillset as needed

Testing & Competency

  • Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
    • Minimum overall score of 80%
    • 100% score on lethal rhythms section
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams required (score 80% or higher)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam must be current (within 1 year) and updated annually

Background & Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 90 days, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required prior to start and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
  • Physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (within 1 year, updated annually)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation or titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella documentation or titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)

Additional Requirements

  • Valid state nursing license required prior to start
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
  • Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually
  • Photo for badge with specific guidelines (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start

Notes

  • Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a different rate
  • Must be able to float within the skillset as needed
  • Candidate must be prepared to complete all required documentation and compliance steps before start date
