Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position

Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Shift: Days, 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (Clinical Nurse I-IV) coordinates and implements patient care tailored to the age and needs of the patient population on assigned units. The RN ensures quality, efficient, and safe care consistent with unit standards, demonstrating professionalism and respect toward staff, physicians, patients, and families.


Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program

Licenses & Certifications

  • Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license
  • BLS Certification from AHA required
  • ACLS Certification from AHA required
  • PALS Certification from AHA required

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the RN specialty

Job Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Obtain and record initial patient assessments, prioritizing based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs
  • Re-assess patients to identify progress and intervene as needed
  • Develop and implement individualized, measurable plans of care within nursing standards
  • Make comprehensive nursing decisions and modify care plans based on patient outcomes
  • Participate in patient and family health education and discharge planning
  • Perform Point of Care testing procedures
  • Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs
  • Evaluate effectiveness of care plans

Staff Responsibilities

  • Use effective communication strategies to achieve intended outcomes
  • Delegate and coordinate unit work assignments to ensure completion of patient care support activities
  • Follow up on delegated tasks for quality and completeness
  • Utilize appropriate chain of command for issue resolution
  • Participate in orientation of new staff and students
  • Serve as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff
  • Promote a positive, professional, and supportive work environment
  • Participate in unit growth and organizational improvement efforts
  • Collaborate with others to achieve unit and organizational goals

Customer Relations

  • Exhibit behaviors that promote high patient/customer satisfaction and respect for rights and confidentiality
  • Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Maintain hospital credibility, integrity, and positive image
  • Support the mission, goals, and continuous service improvement of the hospital

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist with special projects as assigned
  • Interpret and communicate Human Resources policies and procedures accurately
  • Adapt readily to changes in work environment or schedule
  • Maintain a positive attitude during stressful periods
  • Take responsibility for professional growth and development
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, including patient and environmental safety
  • Maintain positive attendance and communicate absences in advance

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases in certain areas
  • Clean, well-lighted, ventilated, smoke-free environment
  • Subject to stressful professional relationships and variable working hours due to emergencies
  • Requires prolonged standing, walking, heavy physical effort for patient positioning and equipment handling
  • Requires manual dexterity, fine motor coordination, and normal or correctable hearing and vision

On-Call Requirements

  • One call night per week
  • Two weekends of call per month

This position is a backfill replacement and requires a minimum of 1 year of RN experience.
