Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Required Experience: 4 years in MRI technology (highest stated requirement)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment)
  • Shift: Evening shift – Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 10:30 AM – 11:00 PM (40 hours/week)
  • Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital
  • Total Staffed Beds: 402
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Scrubs: Not provided; any color allowed
  • Parking: Available (cost applies)

Certifications Required

  • ARMRIT or ARRT MR
  • CPR
  • IV Certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support, AHA or ARC)
  • Flu vaccine (mandatory for all employees)

Skills Required

  • Adult Outpatient MRI
  • PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
  • Experience with SIEMENS MRI Equipment
  • IV Skills

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Criminal background check within 90 days including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
    • SSN Trace
    • Federal, state, and county searches as applicable
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start and monthly thereafter
  • Employment History:
    • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps
    • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in the past 3 years
    • Verification of minimum 2 years employment in the past 7 years, including at least 1 prior travel assignment
  • Health Requirements:
    • Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within the past year, updated annually
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
    • Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccine or positive titer documentation
    • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (Sept 23 - Mar 31)
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • Valid state license verification prior to start
    • National tech certification verification as applicable
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher)
    • Color blindness testing (online or in-person)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam for applicable specialties (not specific to MRI tech but noted for cardiac specialties)

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must complete facility-specific modules (SITELS) prior to start date.
  • Photo for badge must meet specific criteria (clear, centered, no glare, solid background).
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually.
  • Drug screen and background check attestations completed by credentialing staff.
  • Facility requires strict adherence to vaccination and health screening policies.
