Occupational Therapist - Inpatient & Acute Care
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Position in an inpatient unit providing occupational therapy in a fast-paced hospital setting.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary rehab team (PT/OT/SLP).
- Patient population includes adults and geriatrics.
- Patients require at least 3 hours of therapy, 5 out of 7 days per week.
- CARF accredited program specializing in general rehab, stroke, and amputee care.
Schedule
- Sunday to Thursday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (5x8)
- One weekend day per month required
Experience & Requirements
- Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Occupational Therapy)
- Years of Experience Required: 3 years
- Comprehensive inpatient and acute care experience strongly preferred.
- Neurological experience required (stroke/brain impairment).
- Spinal cord injury experience is a bonus but not required.
- Amputee experience preferred.
- Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers accepted with proper experience.
Licensure & Certifications
- Active state license required prior to start (pending license accepted before start).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (AHA or ARC).
- Other certifications may be required based on unit specifics (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NIH Stroke Certification) but BLS is mandatory.
Additional Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including multiple location searches.
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
- Physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
- MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) documentation or titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Varicella documentation or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (09/23 - 03/31)
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information.
- Skills checklist and competency exams required prior to start and updated annually.
