Description
Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 06:45 AM – 07:15 PM
Unit Beds: 16
Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
Experience & Requirements
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (no first-time travelers accepted)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required, but unit will not accept first-time travelers, implying some travel or contract experience preferred
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- Licensure: Active Louisiana state license or Compact license required upon submission
- Additional Certifications: May be required depending on unit specifics; verify with program management if unclear
Job Expectations
- Upon assignment acceptance, you may be assigned to an "Emergency Team" during emergency events, requiring you to stay at the facility until the event passes or serve as part of a relief team.
- Must be comfortable with emergency event assignments as directed by the unit manager.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly
- Sex offender search within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education Verification: Primary or third-party verification of highest education level required (not applicable if state license held)
- Competency Exam: Specialty-specific exam required annually, minimum 80% score
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Tdap vaccination required for select departments
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)
- Fit Mask Testing: Annual fit test required; can be completed onsite if needed
- Photo for Badge: Recent full-color passport-style photo required within 24 hours of booking
Additional Notes
- Current/valid driver's license or government photo ID required (color copy only)
- Employment application and updated skills checklist required annually
- Must provide 7 years of employment history with explanations for any gaps
- Candidates must be comfortable with the possibility of emergency event assignments and extended shifts during such events
