Operating Room Travel Nurse Opportunity
Job Details
- Specialty: Operating Room (OR)
- Employment Type: Travel
- Contract Length: 16 weeks
- Unit: Surgical Services OR RN
- Unit Specialty: Orthopedics, General Surgery, ENT, Urology, Podiatry, Ophthalmology, OBGYN, Endoscopy
- Facility Type: Critical Access
- Beds/Rooms: 2 ORs, 1 procedure room, endoscopy room
- Patient Age Range: 0-99 years
- Patient Population: Diverse surgical cases including C-sections (required)
- Nurse Patient Ratio: Circulate/Scrub as applicable
- Scheduling:
- Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Rotating weekly and weekend call (minimum every other weekend)
- 20-minute call back
- Travelers must work 2 out of 4 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Day)
- Floating: Not required
- Documentation System: EPIC (experience within past 2 years required, non-negotiable)
- Medication System: Pyxis
- Respiratory and Anesthesia Support: Available 24/7
- Ventilator Management: Managed by on-unit anesthesia
Requirements
- Years of Experience in Specialty: Minimum 1 year
- Prior Travel Experience: Required
- Certifications:
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required
- Skills:
- Must have experience with C-sections
- Scrub experience highly preferred; strong circulator acceptable
- Additional:
- IV starts to offer
- Must explain any employment gaps over 90 days
- Complete work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type required for submission
Additional Information
- No block schedules allowed
- Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to lack of public transportation
- Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November through April
This position is ideal for an experienced OR nurse with prior travel experience who is comfortable with a variety of surgical specialties, including obstetrics, and who meets the certification and EPIC documentation requirements.
