Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Travel/Contract

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 3x12-hour Night Shifts (12N)
Schedule: Weekdays and some weekends; full holiday availability required (no RTO on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day)
Patient Ratio: 1:4


Required Qualifications

  • Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
  • Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Preferred (not strictly required, but previous travel experience is a plus)
  • Certifications:
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
    • Epic system experience required
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
    • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification)

Job Requirements & Competencies

  • Experience with GE Ventilators
  • Completion of unit-specific competency exams, including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam for RNs (if applicable)
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (for Aya candidates)
  • Ability to work night shifts and holidays without exceptions

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide check, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record if driving is required
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Education accreditation verification required (accredited programs only)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monthly monitoring
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • TB questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption possible)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Documentation & Other Requirements

  • 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership)
  • Employment application required (including education for nursing candidates)
  • Skills checklist required
  • Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required annually

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be able to comply with strict fingerprinting and background check processes, including timely completion of Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting
  • Facility requires no exceptions for holiday time off during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
  • Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory
  • Candidates should be prepared for night shifts and some weekend work

This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists with a strong background in neuro diagnostics, who are comfortable working night shifts and holidays, and who meet the comprehensive compliance and certification requirements.
