Description

Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 or 48 hour option)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 18 months recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
  • Licensing: Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
  • Certifications Required:
    • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday
  • Assessments:
    • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test during orientation (passing score required)
  • Documentation Submission: Hours worked submitted via Qualivis – Lotus

Required Credentials & Compliance

Identification & Background

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
  • Background check required prior to start, including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search
    • SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start, updated annually
    • Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
    • Fingerprints done under code 4723.09 (Nursing)
    • Facility will conduct additional fingerprinting onsite
    • Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if prints are completed prior to start

Licenses & Certifications

  • Primary source verification of nursing license within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
  • Annual renewal required if certifications expire within 30 days of start
  • Other certifications (if applicable):
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – preferred but not required
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for L&D, OB/GYN, NICU
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – preferred for ER
  • Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing (EKG/medication) required
  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
  • Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or QGold/TSPOT) or chest X-ray if history of positive TB, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer, booster if negative/equivocal
    • Hepatitis B – titer, series, or declination documentation
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer, booster if negative/equivocal
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season Oct 31 - Mar 31)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Onboarding & Orientation

  • Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • Modules include training videos and tests; skipping videos will lock candidate out
  • Modules typically take multiple days to complete and must be finished before clearance to start
  • Pass/fail ECG and medication testing completed onsite during orientation
  • Candidates returning to the system with less than 6 months gap may have some requirements waived

Employment History & References

  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
  • Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Co-worker references are not acceptable

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID at all times on assignment
  • Must be prepared to work night shifts and every other holiday
  • Facility requires compliance with all health, background, and competency requirements prior to and during assignment
  • Fingerprinting and background checks are strictly monitored and must be current and compliant

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, who are comfortable with night shifts and meeting comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
