Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 18 months recent Operating Room (OR) experience required prior to travel assignment
- Experience in scrubbing and circulating in robotic, GU, GYN, and General surgery cases
- Must be able to circulate & scrub cases, take call on nights and weekends
- Team player with ability to perform accurate counts and handle specimens
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required for submission
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross; RQI acceptable
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for many specialties, check specifics
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Preferred but not required for PACU
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for L&D, OB/GYN, and NICU
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement – Required annually
- State License Verification – Primary source verification within 30 days of start; license must be current
- NURSYS Verification – Required within 30 days of start
- NIH Stroke Certification – Preferred for certain units; must be updated annually
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – Required for all bedside RNs except OR; completed onsite during orientation
- Tech Cert Verification (National) – Required for CVOR and OR specialties
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Preferred but not required for ER
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required and must be updated annually
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; results required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Drug testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31)
Documentation and Onboarding
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar specialty area
- Two references required from employment within one year of start, from a manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director (co-worker references not accepted)
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Pass/fail medication and EKG competency testing during orientation
- Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required
- Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprint attestation required annually
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be able to start with fingerprinting results pending as long as fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Candidates with latex allergies must notify facility to ensure availability of latex-free gloves
- Candidates must be prepared to take call on nights and weekends
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
