Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Paramus, New Jersey

Job Description

  • Home Health Hospice Float or Admissions role
  • Must hold a New Jersey State License or Compact License
  • BLS certification required
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster required at submission

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum RN experience required (default to standard RN requirements)

Certifications & Licenses

  • NJ State Nursing License (no temporary or emergency licenses unless approved)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (relevant for certain units)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only (for select float pool and pediatric units)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Required for Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, NICU
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - Required for Labor and Delivery (AWHONN Advanced or NCC C-EFM within 2 years)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (Medication and EKG/Telemetry competency exams) required onsite for all RN specialties
  • Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) - Must be updated annually with 80% passing score
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
  • State License Verification and NURSYS verification must be run within 30 days prior to start

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam or statement of health within 72 hours of contract signing, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP
  • Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 72 hours of contract signing; annual expiration required
  • Immunizations and Titers (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing):
    • COVID-19 vaccination series with booster (no declinations accepted)
    • Flu vaccination (mandatory, no religious or medical declinations accepted)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred, not required)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual Quantiferon Gold or 2-step PPD)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella - proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or declination
    • Varicella - proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
  • Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 72 hours of contract signing (no pending or rapid tests accepted)

Background & Verification

  • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start date, including:
    • Counties Lived/Worked
    • Statewide and National Criminal Checks
    • National Sex Offender Registry
    • OIG Sanction Search
    • SAM.gov Exclusion List
  • Employment verification for last 7 years required, must be completed 2 Fridays prior to start date
  • Two references required: one from a supervisor/manager within 12 months, second within 3 years
  • Education verification of highest degree required; diploma can be used as placeholder if verification pending

Competencies & Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% pass rate, annual update)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (80% pass rate, annual update) - not required for Home Health
  • Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) covering topics such as:
    • National Patient Safety
    • HIPAA
    • OSHA (Body Mechanics, Emergency Management, Environmental Safety, Fire Safety, Hazardous Chemicals)
    • Infection Control/Bloodborne Pathogens
    • Cultural Competence, Ethics, Patient Rights, Abuse, Pain Management, Restraints, Sexual Harassment, Workplace Violence
  • Pass/Fail Testing onsite for medication and telemetry competency

Additional Notes

  • Must complete facility-specific self-learning modules and post-tests prior to start
  • Candidate must be prepared for ID badge creation during orientation
  • ECG Foundations exam required for all RNs to prepare for onsite pass/fail test

This position is ideal for Registered Nurses licensed in New Jersey who are comfortable with home health hospice care and meet the comprehensive certification, health, and compliance requirements.
