Description
Registered Nurse (Stepdown/MS RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: New Ulm, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 7a-7p, 7p-7a
- Patient Ratios: 1:2 for all shifts
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Stepdown/MS/Telemetry)
- First-timers: Not accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend, 7a-7p
- On-call: No
- Floating: Will float within scope to Med/Surg and other departments as resource help as needed
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Locals Accepted: No, must be outside 100-mile radius
- Pending License Accepted: Yes
- Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
- Guaranteed Hours: Client may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty; on-call hours do not count toward guaranteed minimum hours
- Charge Nurse Role: Must be able to function as Charge nurse; charge experience required
- Electronic Health Record: Epic experience required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required; NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) preferred
Required Clinical Experience
- Work Setting: Med/Surg, Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
- Cardiac Monitoring: Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry (unit and remote monitoring), use of Rapid Response Teams
- Endocrine/Metabolic: IV insulin protocols, titration of insulin drips
- IV Therapy/Phlebotomy: Arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, starting IVs
- Patient Diagnoses: CHF, A-Fib with RVR, DKA, ETOH withdrawal, ARDS, pneumonia, sepsis, surgical patients (ortho, general, OB/GYN, podiatry, urology), delirium
- Special Procedures: Central line insertion, cardioversion, arterial line insertion
- Special Equipment: NICOM, Nihon Kohden
Additional Requirements
- Must complete a criminal background check within one year of start date
- Must complete MN DHS Net Study Questionnaire immediately after signing contract (Minnesota fingerprinting requirement)
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start required
- Adult Tdap vaccination required (declinations not accepted without approved exemption)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months required
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella required
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start
- Annual medication and competency exams required
- Skills checklist required annually
- Must complete assigned pre-orientation online modules within 72 hours of receiving login (3-9 hours depending on specialty)
- Must provide a passport-style photo for badge within 48 hours of signing contract
- Uniform: Navy blue scrub color
