Job Description

  • Position: Radiation Therapist
  • Must adhere to Prisma Health Floating Policy: Agency staff may be required to float to other units or campuses within the health system based on census needs. Floating will only occur to units where the staff member is qualified and has demonstrated competencies.

  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: HIPAA and OSHA/TJC training verification required, valid within 90 days of start.
  • State License Verification: Primary source verification required; license must be valid with no pending actions and not expiring within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP licenses; must authorize work in South Carolina.
  • IV Certification: Required for LPN/LVN candidates; does not expire.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI: Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs; must be valid for entire assignment.
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required annually for ICU, Neuro ICU, CVICU, SICU, MICU, MS/Tele, Telemetry, Stepdown, ER, Pediatric ER, PCU, PACU, Observation Unit, LTACH, IR, and Endoscopy.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, Behavioral Health; must be valid beyond 30 days from start.
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for RNs in specific units; must pass with 84% or higher; two attempts allowed.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background Check: 7-year background check within 12 months of start required, including SS trace, aliases, all states/counties lived/worked in last 7 years, FACIS III, sex offender, and international searches if applicable.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG Checks: Required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter.
  • Fingerprinting: Required for certain professionals without 12 months residency proof; must be completed for states lived in last 12 months.

Competency & Training Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required annually for positions dispensing medication.
  • Color Blind Testing: Required for nurses in Emergency Department, Pediatric ER, and MLTs/MLSs.
  • Competency Exams: Must be completed annually with at least 80% passing score.
  • Core Training Parts I, II, III: Annual training including universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, harassment, fire safety, OSHA blood-borne pathogens, age-specific care, and TJC National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Online Orientation Modules: Must be completed within 72 hours of assignment; required for all clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Pre-Assignment Testing: Must be completed within 72 hours of receiving login; includes medication and EKG tests with two attempts allowed.
  • EKG Practice Test and Study Guide: Required for most RNs except certain specialties; EP Techs and Monitor Techs also require EKG exam.

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with specific background and lighting requirements.
  • Floating Policy: Must be signed; staff may be floated to other units as needed.
  • Contractor Acknowledgment: Must be signed within 24 hours of contract signing.
