Description

OR Registered Nurse (RN) - Contract Position

Location: Edwards, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Schedule: 4x10 (four 10-hour shifts per week)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week


Job Summary

Assist during surgical procedures by maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field and providing instrumentation support to the surgical team. Participate in unit activities to ensure high-quality patient care. Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.


Key Responsibilities

  • Apply expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and use of surgical tools and technologies, following AORN standards.
  • Maintain and check surgical items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal integrity, sterile indicators, and expiration dates. Ensure a safe operating room environment and proper equipment function.
  • Monitor the sterile field for contamination risks and initiate or notify corrective actions as needed.
  • Work towards or maintain competency with Tier 1 surgical cases.
  • Contribute flexibly to individualized patient care within scope of practice.
  • Communicate effectively and participate fully in perioperative team processes including Time Out, Briefings, and Debriefings.
  • Assist with patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation.
  • Maintain professional behavior and stay current with new technologies, procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.
  • Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
  • Model principles of a Just Culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or Licensed Surgical Technologist.
  • Licensed as a Surgical Technologist in the state of Colorado (required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
  • Computer skills or ability to obtain within 90 days to complete online learning and job-specific competencies.
  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).

  • Squat, Bend, Twist: 5% each
  • Lift: 10% (frequent lifting up to 10 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs)
  • No requirements for running, kneeling, driving, climbing, crawling, or reaching above shoulder.
