Medical Laboratory Technician - Contract Position

Job Description

Join the Laboratory team as a Medical Laboratory Technician responsible for providing accurate and timely test results to assist providers in patient care decisions. The ideal candidate is a strong generalist with preferred microbiology reading experience and capable of phlebotomy when needed.

Due to the rural location, candidates must have a comprehensive range of laboratory knowledge and skills and be adaptable to learning new skills quickly. The role requires responding accurately and efficiently in various situations, including sample gathering, analysis, and delivering test results.

Work Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 12 PM to 8:30 PM
• Must be flexible to work graveyard and weekend shifts

Minimum Requirements

• Current ASCP certification
• Ability to read microbiology results independently (preferred)
• Willing and able to perform venous and arterial blood collection
• Experience with microbiology, hematology, chemistry, blood banking, coagulation, urinalysis, serology, and blood gases, with the ability to move between these areas within the same shift
• Positive interpersonal skills within the laboratory environment
• Willingness to modify schedule to accommodate time off requests
• Emotional maturity and ability to maintain composure in stressful or STAT situations
• Excellent customer service and communication skills (oral, written, and listening)
• High levels of self-motivation and management
• Ability to lift/move up to 15 lbs. unassisted and heavier weights with assistance
• Ability to work confidentially
• Reliable and timely with work schedule
• Flexible and willing to accept other duties as assigned

• Level 4 Trauma facility
• Blue scrubs preferred
