Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Huntington, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Schedule: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each
- Shift times: 6:45 AM to 5:15 PM
- One late night shift per week: 7:30 AM start until last case is done
- Patient Ratios: 1:1
Experience & Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Required Years of Experience: 1 year
- First-time travelers accepted only if they have prior EP Lab experience
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
- Locals accepted: No (must live 50+ miles from facility)
- Licensure: Must have an active RN license in West Virginia or a compact state (pending licenses not accepted)
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Background check required within 90 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
- Education verification and transcript/diploma required for all new candidates
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 6 months of start
- Competency exam required within 6 months of start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Initial physical exam, updated annually, attesting to ability to meet physical demands
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (medical or religious exemptions allowed)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months, updated annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (2nd booster can pend at start)
- Hepatitis B: Surface antibody and antigen titer within 6 months, vaccination series or declination form required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (2nd booster can pend at start)
- Drug testing: Must be done through LabCorp within 30 days of start, results cannot pend, updated annually
- Hepatitis A: Negative titer within 6 months
- Hepatitis C: Antibody titer within 6 months
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine: Required annually between 10/31 and 4/30 (medical or religious exemptions require approval)
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Seasonal vaccine required; initial series preferred. Declination form required if opting out
Documentation & Forms
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
- Residency declaration form required if working on a compact license
- Facility-specific new hire forms, confidentiality agreement, standards of behavior, IT access, OSHA post-test, voluntary self-identification, COVID form, hospital policies review, and flu exemption forms must be completed prior to start
- TB screening questionnaire required with one-year expiration
- Vaccine declination and exemption forms for COVID-19, Hepatitis B, and flu must be completed if applicable
References & Evaluations
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
- Performance evaluation required if candidate has worked with the system for over 1 year
- Internal evaluation required if candidate has worked with the system for over 2 years
- Complete employment application/resume required
- Skills checklist must be updated annually for applicable units
This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience, who hold the required certifications, and meet the health and background compliance standards. Prior EP Lab experience is necessary for first-time travelers.
