Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Specialty: Registered Nurse - PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (Day/Evening shifts: 0630-1700 or 0900-1930)
- Floating: May float to main OR if census permits/needed
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in general PACU, including:
- Administration of blood products
- Infection control
- Specimen handling and labeling
- General PACU procedures
- Licensure:
- DC RN license required (pending license accepted but must be active prior to start)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC approved
- Vaccinations:
- Flu vaccination required for all travelers at this facility
Requirements & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 90 days, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Federal, state, county, and offender searches as applicable
- Health Documents:
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Required immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- References:
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Work History:
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
- Minimum 2 years of employment in the past 7 years, preferably the most recent 2 years
- Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment or 1 month of per diem assignment for travel contracts
Competencies & Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (within 3 years, minimum 80% score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (annual update required, minimum 80% overall and 100% lethal rhythms section)
- Color blindness testing (online or in-person)
- Other unit-specific competencies as required
Additional Notes
- Must complete facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date
- Valid driver's license required if driving is an essential job function
- Annual acknowledgment of safety manual required
