Job Opportunity: Medical Laboratory - Histotechnologist
Location: State College, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- 8-hour day shift, Monday through Friday
- Must be certified as a histotechnologist with ASCP or hold an equivalent certification
- Responsible for performing a variety of histological procedures on tissue specimens under supervision
- Key duties include:
- Identification and processing of all tissue specimens in anatomic pathology
- Assigning accession numbers and accurately entering patient demographic information, specimen source, and physician/surgeon details
- Assisting pathologists with gross examination of tissue specimens, including labeling tissue cassettes and operating tissue processors
- Processing, sectioning, staining, and delivering prepared slides for microscopic examination
- Assisting with frozen section preparation immediately upon specimen receipt
- Performing special histochemical staining procedures within requested timeframes
- Preparing slides or anatomical materials for external laboratory consultation or processing
- Filing and indexing tissue slides and blocks for storage and retrieval, ensuring proper retention and rotation of specimens
