Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)

Location: Akron, Ohio


Position Details

  • Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 12 weeks
  • Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours (1100-2330)
  • Floating: May float as needed to other nearby facilities within the system

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Must have 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • CRT or RRT credentials accepted
  • Must hold a current Ohio RRT license at time of application
  • NBRC certification and BLS certification required

Certifications Required

  • NBRC Certification (CRT or RRT)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only; AHA RQI certs acceptable but non-RQI preferred
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only; required for RRT and Emergency Department roles
  • For RRT-NICU (Pediatric) roles:
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA/AAP only

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Criminal background check required prior to start; must be updated if break in service exceeds 2 months
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start; must be completed ASAP (may not pend at start)
  • Fingerprinting onsite may be allowed on first day if agency results are pending (approval required)
  • HIPAA acknowledgement form required and must be updated annually

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months of start; must be updated annually
  • Negative 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold TB test/T-Spot within 6 months of start; renewed annually
    • For past positive TB tests, chest x-ray clearance and annual TB symptom assessment required
  • Required immunizations or titers:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or signed declination)
    • Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; updated annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31); no declinations accepted

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Must provide 3 years of prior work history including at least 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting relevant to the assignment
  • Two recent satisfactory pre-employment references required
  • Unit-specific competency exam and skills checklist required; must be updated annually
  • Completion of online training modules (4-5 hours) prior to start; modules must be completed on a computer using Chrome browser
  • Badge pickup required prior to or on first day of assignment
  • TB results must be uploaded to the onboarding system to advance through modules
  • I9/E-Verify attestation required for all candidates

Additional Notes

  • Candidates working with pediatric patients (RRT-NICU) will complete fingerprinting onsite as part of onboarding
  • PAPRs will not be supplied by the client for failed fit tests; agencies must supply if needed
  • All work history, including prior work at this healthcare system, must be included in the application

This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists with required certifications and licensure, ready to work a 12-week travel contract in Ohio with a reputable healthcare system.
