Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Tech (Travel/Contract)
Location: Salisbury, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Work in a combined Interventional Radiology (IR) / Cardiology / Vascular / Electrophysiology (EP) lab.
- Approximately 80% IR procedures, 10% other procedure types.
- Assist providers during diagnostic and interventional radiology and cardiology procedures.
- Scrub and circulate during IR/Cath Lab and cardiology procedures.
- Medication administration performed by RN only.
- Patient population: Adults and Geriatrics.
- Common patient diagnoses include pacemakers (PPM) and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD).
Schedule & Call Requirements
- 40 hours per week, 8-hour day shifts (07:30 - 16:00).
- Call schedule:
- Weekday call: Twice a week for 2 weeks per month, 16:00 - 07:30.
- Weekend call: One weekend per month (Friday 16:00 to Monday 07:30).
- No call the week following a weekend call.
- Call team consists of three staff members, including one RN.
- Weekend work: Every third weekend.
- No float requirement.
- No holiday RTO allowed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty (Radiology / Cardiology).
- Must have Interventional Radiology (IR) experience (90% IR procedures).
- Skills: Scrub, circulate, telemetry.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
Preferred Qualifications
- Skills: Ability to perform EKG lead placement.
- Additional certifications:
- ARRT Advanced Certification
- RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist)
- RCIS with medical experience

Orientation & Onboarding
- Unit orientation: 40 to 80 hours.
- Techs start directly on the unit on Mondays until completion of Dimensions training.
- Scrubs provided.
Patient Care & Unit Details
- Expect urgent/emergent cardiology and interventional radiology procedures.
- STEMI callback time: 30 minutes.
- IR callback time varies by procedure type.
Prior Travel Experience
- Not required for this position.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background checks within 6 months (SSN trace, county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search).
- Education verification for highest degree earned.
- Drug testing within 6 months (9-panel acceptable).
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Negative TB or chest X-ray within 1 year (or proof of past positive TB with chest X-ray within 5 years).
- Rubeola (Measles) titer or vaccination.
- Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella per standard requirements.
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season.
- Competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (required for RNs in related specialties).
- Color blind testing within 1 year.
- Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments (confidentiality, medication safety, hospital policies, etc.).
- Radiation badge required for Interventional Radiology Techs.
Important Notes
- RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation.
- Interview with the manager is required before offer.
- No holiday time off allowed during contract.
This position is ideal for experienced Radiology/Cardiology techs with strong IR skills looking for a travel contract in North Carolina.
