Travel RN Opportunity – MedSurg Telemetry Unit
Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – MedSurg Telemetry
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Unit: E100 – MedSurg Telemetry
- Beds: 48 (average census 27)
- Patient Ratios:
- Day shift: 1:5
- Night shift: 1:6
- Staffing:
- 1 unit secretary (7am-11pm)
- Patient Care Technicians (PCT) ratio 1:10-15, typically 3 PCTs per shift
- Occasional 1:1 coverage with PCT or patient safety tech
- Equipment:
- Hoyer lift
- Automated blood pressure machines (brand new)
- Bladder scanner
- Remote telemetry monitoring
- Vein finder
- Documentation System: Altera/Allscripts Sunrise
- Scheduling: Every other week (EOW), 12-hour shifts preferred
- Floating Policy: Floats to like MST units (D1, F2). Float pool and travelers generally float first.
- Patient Experience: Participation in daily multidisciplinary rounds (MDRs) on day shift Monday-Friday, 10:30-11:15am
Required Skills & Experience
- Med/Surg Telemetry skillset including head-to-toe assessment
- Orthopedic care knowledge
- IV medication administration and management, including:
- Lasix drip
- Heparin drip
- IV push metoprolol, diltiazem
- Insulin IV or subcutaneous
- Wound care including drain management and VAC therapy
- NGT/G tube care and parenteral nutrition
- Central line management (PICC, HD catheter, midlines)
- Foley, nephrostomy, suprapubic catheter care
- Ostomy care
- Postoperative patient care
- Procedures performed on unit: Nasogastric tube (NGT) management
Certifications Required
- Current RN License
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Dress Code
- No required uniform
- Scrubs and closed-toe shoes (no Crocs)
- Scrub colors: prints or solids allowed
