Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Hospice) - Everett, Washington
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Hospice)
- Location: Everett, Washington (up to 60-mile radius from hub/office)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Schedule: Open schedule options including Monday-Friday, Tuesday-Saturday, or Wednesday-Sunday
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Average Patients per Day: 4-6
- Minimum Weekly Points: 30
- Types of Cases: Geriatric, end-of-life care
Experience & Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year recent experience in hospice nursing
- Prior Travel Experience: Not for first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)
- Certifications Required: BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Licensure: Must have license in hand for Washington state
- On-Call: Not required, but weekend coverage may be needed (to be discussed during interview)
Documentation & Compliance
- Timely communication and documentation completion required by 9 AM the following morning
- Dress code: Scrubs (any color), no jeans
- Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate
- iPad provided; cell phone use not allowed
Background Checks & Verifications (must be current within 90 days of start)
- Comprehensive background check including SSN trace, county searches (last 7 years), FACIS Level 1, nationwide sex offender, motor vehicle records, education verification, and work history verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check
- HHS/OIG check
- Fingerprinting (Washington-specific requirements apply; on-site fingerprinting required if candidate has not lived in WA for past 3 years)
- State-specific criminal history and employability status checks as applicable
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS certification (AHA, ARC, Military accepted)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (updated annually)
- State license verification and NURSYS verification (as applicable)
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (as applicable)
- Competency exam relevant to profession/specialty
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within last 12 months (not required annually)
- Fit mask test (N95 accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with exceptions for positive TB history)
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (with declination options)
- 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination form required
- COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination required
Additional Requirements
- Proof of current auto insurance if job responsibilities include driving (required for all home health positions)
- Completion of facility-specific policies such as Acceptable Use Policy and Flu/COVID statements prior to start
- Two professional references within 2 years of start (travel, allied, per diem acute care)
- Full 7 years of work history documented with no gaps on employment application
- Annual skills checklist completion
- Employment history verification for 7 years (with attempts documented if unverifiable)
This position is ideal for experienced hospice RNs with prior travel experience who are licensed in Washington and meet the comprehensive compliance and health requirements.
